A small victory!

The other day, walking down Haight St. I spied in a shoe store a mis-hung flag.  It was hanging vertically, stripes down, but the union was to the right!  Can you imagine!  I couldn't keep quiet.  I informed the apathetic hipster clerk of the affront so blatantly on public display, and informed her how to correct it.

This morning walking by, I noticed it had been corrected!  It pays to speak up.

Torn to shreds

You can't see the damage as well in the photo...
There I am, walking down Oak St. for my morning coffee, when I witnessed a sight sure to make any True Patriot wretch; a cheap-ass, made in China car flag!  I have no problem with flags made in China, as long as they're properly treated.

This one was a dishrag.  It was shredded and frayed, covered with years of exhaust, and had no doubt been flown in all kinds of inclement weather.

I resisted the urge to slash their tires.

Patriotically yours,

Lee

More clothing.

Seen at Goodwill.  Second hand disrespect.
I was tempted to buy this in order to properly dispose of this disgrace and in order to prevent the future possibility I might see the fuckwit who purchased it actually wearing it causing me to have to resist the urge to slap someone silly.

Patriots!  I behoove you to document any flag abuse you see and post it here.  It can be in the form of a story, an image of Un-American activity in action, or documentation in any form, really.

We will resist the urge to slap some silly and instead expose contempt for Our Flag wherever it may be!

Who's with me?

Patriotically yours.

More Flag Abuse

To the gentleman in the photo below; Sir, I respect your service to your country, but didn't your military service educate you in proper display of the Flag?  Carry a flag on a staff as it was meant to be, not on your back!

Disgraceful! If that shirt has touched the floor of your laundry room, it needs to be burned.  Out of respect to your service, I will allow you to remove it first.

Patriotically Yours,
Lee

A quick one.

Just had to point this out.  Look at this asshole!  He probably thinks he's a patriot, but no true patriot would treat the flag like that! If that's NOT a flag and its some sort of article of clothing, that's doubly bad.  Oh, and I'm all for freedom of speech.  Might as well have a sign that reads "I Am No Ordinary Asshole!"  -- LV

Protect the Flag!

As an Eagle Scout, I am consistently appalled by the lack of respect many Americans demonstrate towards their flag.  After the great flag resurgence of September 2001, flag abuse became particularly prevalent.
  • Hapless polyester flags were flown from countless car windows, regardless of weather and un-illuminated at night, until they were tattered, exhaust covered remnants of their former selves.
  • A newer trend at sporting events has the flag displayed disrespectfully horizontal to the ground instead of proudly flown.
  • Many businesses fly the flag while it's raining.  Are we sure these are all weather flags?
  • People have begun using the American Flag as clothing.  Yes GARMENTS!  The flag should never be used as wearing apparel or in advertisements.  Take a look at these images, if you have the stomach for disrespect.(note the many times the flags are touching the ground, displayed horizontally, and even used as underwear!)
  • Images of our very own Star Spangled Banner festoon disposable napkins, paper plates, and even plastic beer cups all meant to be DISCARDED!  Eat off your flag, wipe your ugly mug with your flag, then throw it away.  Nice.
Americans!  Learn respect for your flag.  Familiarize yourself with the United States Flag Code in order help abate the onslaught that the symbol of this great country endures daily.  After all, as the code says, "The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing."

Next post;  what we patriots are going to do about it.

America, F#(k Yeah!
